Following the recently completed results period, it is clear that many companies are looking for new sources of earnings growth.

We have recently surveyed several hundred Australian leaders and supported multiple teams in setting and executing growth strategies and it is clear that the hunt for growth is real.

One of the prominent themes emerging is, in addition to traditional sources of growth including product, market and channel development, productivity growth is often left to last as it is seen as complex to achieve.

Most businesses spend a disproportionate time setting strategy and too little effort on how to best execute it.

Our #SocialValue analysis and work with specific companies identify several productivity opportunities including:

  • Aligning strategic growth initiatives to customer priorities and behaviour;
  • Implementing strong governance of strategic initiatives including both action and impact;
  • Prioritising leaders’ time and impact to best utilise all available human capital;
  • Re-setting business priorities including suspending or reversing out of initiatives that are “off-strategy”;
  • Aligning strategic focus through multiple layers of an organisation including all leaders, and
  • Enhancing capability of leaders to rise to enterprise leadership in addition to their functional leadership roles, and
  • Driving a culture of collective leadership accountability.

By using experience, data-science and the knowledge of leaders, specific areas for productivity gains can become both visible and executable.
